The Short Version
I am the Ranter, a middle-aged guy who has lived a bit of an odd life and has some stories to share, opinions to express, and a brain that feels like it is going to burst if I don’t get some things out.
I have been working in the hotel industry since 2007 and have served on various tourism boards since 2015. Prior to that I worked for over a decade in the retail sector. In the late 90’s I was injured in a hiking accident which led to my departure from activities such as fighting forest fires and working alongside Michigan Conservation Officers and ended my hope for a career in law enforcement.
My childhood was spent as a DNR brat. For those unfamiliar with the acronym this is short for the Department of Natural Resources, specifically in Michigan. I grew up living in the Michigan State Park System for most of my first twenty-four years of my life.
I attended Brimley Area Schools from kindergarten through high school graduation. I attended my first semester of college at North Central Michigan College before moving on to Northern Michigan University from which I would eventually, and I do mean eventually, graduate with both an Associates and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
